Tips to Get You in to See the President
Okay, not really. The President is a busy man, you know. But here are some ways to make your US vacation in Washington DC a little more exciting:
- Don’t park in the city – You can take a train in from outside of Washington DC. This is going to save you the frustration of trying to find a parking space. And possibly your sanity.
- Have a plan – Instead of wandering around the town, have a plan. You will get to see more in less time when you actually know where you’re going.
- Avoid big events – Though you might have wanted to see the inauguration of Barack Obama (you and everyone else in the world), that would have been the worst time to see Washington DC. Go when it’s quiet, like during the weekdays and when it’s not as warm out.
- Take tours – Instead of looking down at a tour book all the time, try to take as many tours as possible. These will help you to learn about the city, while also getting to see it at the same time.
Make sure you take a lot of pictures and allow yourself a lot of time to walk around the city. The city is extremely walkable – and safe for the most part.
