US Transportation

US transportation options vary from state to state, but looking into these options will help you keep miles off your rental car.

Getting Around the United States

You have a number of options when you get to the United States, or when you’re traveling in it as a resident traveler. You can travel by:

  • Bus – Most major cities have buses that will go from one side of the city to the other. Cleanliness varies and safety in numbers is never a bad idea. There are also buses that go across the country, if you don’t want to drive.
  • Trains – Though not as available in the US as other countries, trains can get you from one side of the US to the other, or they can help you move through cities and states.
  • Subways – Again, while most wish these were more available in the US, subways are available in major US cities and are a cheap way to get from point A to point B. Strange smells are free.
  • Cars – Yes, you can rent (or steal, if you’re looking for a different vacation experience) a car from nearly any airport.
  • Airplanes – When you want to get from Boston to LA, you might want to take a plane instead of driving for days on end and learning to hate your spouse or friend after they play the same Bob Dylan song for the fiftieth time.

You have options in the United States. Now you just need to figure out where you are right now.
